Why does our heart seek Him?

IN my previous post I talked about the error that has supported the church in it’s misunderstanding of the “scepter” ; (the authority and autonomy) of Judah.

Briefly, God revealed through Jacob that authority and self determination would reign with the blood leadership of the Jewish people until the day of Messiah. At His entry into history the scepter; the rule and reign over His kingdom, would be fulfilled in Him forever. The important record of that blood line has been lost to history, covered up by inaccurate and misguided traditions and teaching of “the dominant church.”

I talked about our need to dig into the “meat,” the deeper things and seek out truths. I will present a little known theology “hidden in plain sight” as it were, and challenge you the reader to examine as the Berean’s of Acts 17:11 …. the proposition suggested and deal with fascinating possibilities that present themselves.

What accrues to you as a result could very well change your life forever.
It will explain why some people who hear the gospel story preached in the four corners of the earth feel the heart tug of deliverance and are deeply moved at the voice of the Shepherd. They feel found, fulfilled, and released from bondage and drawn to the words of this Messiah and the eternal life that surrendering to Him provides. While on the other hand in the same audience of the curious, some hear nothing, feel nothing, desire nothing and leave by their own choice with nothing.

In fulfillment of the words of the prophet Jeremiah; the hunted have been sought, the “fisher” has come. He has cast the bait and the nets are filled with those who were once lost. A prophesy has been fulfilled in the magical wisdom and purpose of God the Father.......and Jeremiah’s mission is complete in the harvest.

Until we talk again…..read Jeremiah 16 and let your mind "wonder."

Errors memorialized in scholarship…..

July 18, 2009

The “church” often embraces traditions to the detriment of accuracy in theology.

An example of this is the simplistic proclimation that the Old Testament “is about the Jewish people.” The church proclaims it and embraces it and presto, without asking if that statement is true or if it even makes sense, tradition and sentiment proclaim it so therefore it is.

So often theology has used its feelings and traditions as a source of scholarship in opposition to studying the recorded words of the bible writers and drawing their conclusions from those things recorded and not from customs and hearsay.

In today’s study, such is the case where an answer is given to the prophesy from the patriarch Jacob of a sceptre being with the line of David to the time of the Messiah.
(Gen 49:10)

In antiquity there is a volume known as the Complutensian Polyglot Bible published in the 16th century. In which the effort is made to link the end of the kings of Israel at the time of Zedekiah to the birth of the final King who would hold the sceptre; Yeshua/Jesus. Remember Jacob said the sceptre would not depart from Judah until Shiloh (The Anointed) comes. Its purpose being to explain the gap in the Davidic monarchy over the chosen people of God during this time.

This from that book … "A summary view of the principal events of the period from the close of the sacred canon of the Old Testament until the times of the New Testament."

According to the system of chronology which this work adopts, the overthrow of Zedekiah occurred in the year 589 B. C. The summary begins after the return of the Jewish people from the Babylonian captivity, but while they were still under the dominion of the Kingdom of Persia; and when Artaxerxes Longimanus was the reigning king, who in his 20th year commissioned Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, an event which happened, according to the chronology used, in 446 B. C.
Then follows a brief record of the death and successions of kings, the rise and fall of dynasties, and the overthrow of kingdoms, powers, dominions and empires. But it is always stated conclusively that these ruling powers, whatever might be their nationality, were dominating the Jewish people.

J.H. Allen in his classic study; Judah’s Sceptre and Joseph’s Birthright eloquently records it this way - "The summary shows that Alexander the Great marched into Judea to punish the people for certain grievances which, in his mind, they had practiced against him as commander of the Grecian forces, and that God thwarted him in that purpose. It shows that when Alexander died the Grecian empire was divided among his four generals; that Palestine was given to Loamedon, one of those generals, and that it was soon taken away from him by Ptolemy, the king of Egypt, that they "rejoiced to submit to this new master," and what the consequences were. It shows what they suffered under Antiochus Epiphanes, especially after a false rumor had been spread concerning his death, which they believed and rejoiced in, and that in consequence of this rejoicing "he slew 40,000 persons, sold as many more for slaves, plundered the temple of gold and furniture to the amount of 80 talents of gold, entered the Holy of Holies, and sacrificed a sow upon the altar of burnt offerings, and caused the broth of it to be sprinkled all over the temple." No greater indignity than this could have been put upon that people. The summary continues, a truthful record of suffering after suffering, trouble after trouble, and indignity after indignity, heaped upon that conquered people, who during all those centuries were reigned over by their enemies, the Gentile nations; but not once does the record show -- no not for even one generation -- that they were ruled by a prince of their own royal house."

Finally, the summary ends as follows:

"At length Antipater, a noble but crafty Idumean, by favor of Julius Caesar, was made procurator of Judea, and Hyrcanus continued in the priesthood. After Antipater's death, his son, Herod the Great, by the assistance of Antony, the Roman triumvir, and through much barbarity and bloodshed assumed the regal dignity; which authority was at length confirmed by Augustus Caesar. He maintained his dignity with great ability, but with the utmost cruelty, in his own family as well as among others, till the birth of Christ. In the interval he built many cities, and, to ingratiate himself with the Jews, almost rebuilt the temple.
His crude attempt to murder the infant Saviour is recorded by the evangelist; and soon afterward he died most miserably. After some years, during which the dominions of Herod were governed by his sons, Judea became a Roman province, and the sceptre departed from Judah, for Shiloh was come [the italics are their own]; and after having been under the government of Roman procurators for some years, the whole Jewish state was at length subverted by Titus, the son of Vespasian."

The sophistry in the use of those italicized words, as employed by the compilers of that summary, is that they destroy the evident meaning of that prophecy to which they refer, by the substitution of various sceptres -- held by various kings, of various Gentile nations, that have consecutively held dominion over the Jewish people -- for one particular Sceptre, which the Lord promised should be held, only by some member of Judah's family line, and which should not cease to be held by those of his posterity until Shiloh should come."

So here’s the question. Was the prophecy of Jacob true that there would be royal blood saved to the time of The Anointed? Or once again do we believe that all of God’s inspired words aren’t necessarily so?

Chew on that awhile and we’ll dig deeper next time.

There is a great and awesome day coming!

…..When two diverse peoples will see each other with clear new eyes. With eyes that see through a history of ignorance and blindness with a new understanding. When all the bitterness and division sown by the great liar Satan for thousands of years will be forever finished. Washed away under a new reality and a newborn truth. In one of the most important and misunderstood writings of our holy scripture, the OT book of Ezekiel tells it this way….

Eze 37:16-27And thou, son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it: For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions; then take another stick, and write upon it: For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and of all the house of Israel his companions;
and join them for thee one to another into one stick, that they may become one in thy hand.
And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying: Wilt thou not tell us what thou meanest by these?
say into them: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions; and I will put them unto him together with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in My hand.
And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thy hand before their eyes.
And say unto them: Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, whither they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land;
and I will make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all;
neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will save them out of all their dwelling-places, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them; so shall they be My people, and I will be their God.
And My servant David shall be king over them, and they all shall have one shepherd; they shall also walk in Mine ordinances, and observe My statutes, and do them.
And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob My servant, wherein your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, they, and their children, and their children's children, for ever; and David My servant shall be their prince for ever.
Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them - it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will establish them, and multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in the midst of them for ever.
My dwelling-place also shall be over them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people
.”
(JPS bible)

Some will hide behind their national pride and their biblically jealous ignorance and say either that this prophecy has been fulfilled or that it doesn't matter. My friend, let me tell you that someday it's all you're going to be talking about.

Next time we'll examine the errors that have caused this great proclamation and miracle to be overlooked. Shalom

In a nut shell…

(we continue our ongoing discussion of why this blog exists)

What happened is that the first century church leaders took it upon themselves to blame someone for the death of the Messiah. Isn’t that the human way - to gain stature and support by inciting blame? Not understanding it was not the “Jews” who killed Him but it was all of mankind that had struggled in "Adam’s" sin since the garden days.
Them, us, you and me. Our collective sins drove Him to the cross. Indeed Jesus had said that before the foundations of the earth were laid it was appointed that He would be the sacrifice Lamb by which salvation would be offered to all mankind. Eph 1:4, Heb 9:26, 1 Pet 1:20…

The simple message of belief and salvation were corrupted in that early church by those who sought power. All of the wonderful teachings and hidden meanings, the traditions and the celebrations of the Hebrew people – Yeshua’s people and the roots from which He sprang were cast aside as “Jewish” stuff. Jesus’ people were made out to be the “dogs of perdition” and the scum of the earth. How God the Father must have cried. Everything Jewish was to be cast away and forgotten. The murder and banishment of the Jewish people began in those days and continued throughout most of history up to modern times. The countless millions who were slain in the “name of the savior” is the blood the church fathers will bear one day in judgment.

We as Protestant or Evangelical Christians today suffer with the reality that when the Reformation came via Martin Luther (although it had begun and was growing strong from the eleventh century or sooner) along with the awareness of the place of grace in the gospel message that struck Luther came a learned hate for all things Jewish. This hate was bled into the church by Luther’s own calls for Jew hate and rejection. The opportunity to “right” things as far as Jesus’ roots and traditions went was lost on a new church movement mired in the same muddy hate as the Catholics had stirred up.

Today we have seen a new awakening in people who claim to want to go deeper and learn about their Savior in a new way. And to celebrate all He was and taught. My hope is that you will embrace this awareness and learn a fascinating possibility about your own roots that will challenge and maybe astonish you. Can you say baaa? It’s very “meaty.” More next time.

Of milk and meat….

1Co 3:2 … I have fed you with “milk” and not with solid food, for you were not yet able to bear it; nor are you able even now.

Heb 5:12-13… For indeed because of the time, you ought to be teachers, but you have need that one teach you again what are the first principles of the oracles of God. And you have become in need of “milk”, and not of solid food……for everyone partaking of “milk” is unskillful in the Word of Righteousness, for he is an infant.

Consider this from Proverbs 25:2 The glory of God is to hide a thing; but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.

There is the basic; the simple; the “milk” of scripture and then there is the “meat.” It’s the deeper truth. It’s the depth of meaning in the Word. It is the hidden realities of which Paul and others taught and sometimes assumed their listeners were aware of.

In his writing to Peter he encouraged him to seek and desire this deeper knowledge saying….
desire the sincere “milk” of the Word, as newborn babes, so that you may grow by it; 1Pe 2:2

Previously I’ve presented the 4 basic tenets or understandings of the Hebrew way of understanding the faith presented by Jesus or Yeshua to his disciples when instituting His church. (check the blog below). I now want to present a commentary about what went wrong in the early church that set His people of on rabbit trails of misunderstanding since the time of the first century. I believe it can be summed up in the words of one of the most misguided of church fathers; Ignacius. This man and many more who followed him and trumpeted his hateful and despicable teachings were the root of a scourge that brought shame to the church, and continues to mire the fellowship in the decay of anti-Semitism. Once we deal with this error by the milk drinking leadership of the early church we’ll be ready to turn the pages of the “Old” Testament and “New” Testament as one book and get to the meat of the whole understanding of what our heavenly Father has done for us.

Ignatius wrote The Epistle of Ignatius to the Magnesians . Say that a few times, it’s a mouthful – but memorize it. In his epistle he engages in a misguided rant against the Jews of his day and instructs his followers in their willingness to blame someone for the death of Jesus.
From Chapter IX.--LET US LIVE WITH CHRIST.

…….. “Let us therefore no longer keep the Sabbath after the Jewish manner, and rejoice in days of idleness;” for he that does not work, let him not eat” quoting 2Th 3:10

These are the words and instructions of Ignacius, it should be apparent that using statement “no longer” Ignacius is acknowledging that until now they have been “keeping the Sabbath after the “Jewish” manner.”

He goes on… But let every one of you keep the Sabbath after a spiritual manner, rejoicing in meditation on the law,* not in relaxation of the body,* admiring the workmanship of God,* and not eating things prepared the day before* nor using lukewarm drinks,* and walking within a prescribed space,* nor finding delight in dancing* and plaudits which have no sense in them. [* Jewish Sabbath practices] notice though that he says to “rejoice in meditation on the law.”

Again he says…. And after the observance of the Sabbath (1), let every friend of Christ keep the Lord's Day as a festival, the resurrection-day, the queen and chief of all the days [of the week]. Looking forward to this, the prophet declared, "To the end, for the eighth day," on which our life both sprang up again, and the victory over death was obtained in Christ, whom the children of perdition, [referring to the Jews?] the enemies of the Saviour, deny, "whose god is their belly, who mind earthly things," who are "lovers of pleasure, and not lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof." These make merchandise of Christ, corrupting His word, and giving up Jesus to sale:* they are corrupters of women, and covetous of other men's possessions, swallowing up wealth insatiably; from whom may ye be delivered by the mercy of God through our Lord Jesus Christ! *Let’s talk about indulgences sometime!

And lets talk more of the deeper things - the "meat" soon.

Belief Item Four.....In support of the ministry of worship in words and song which anticipate and tell the story of returning brothers; Ephraim and Judah together as two sticks in God’s hand.

Now this is where joy begins; in the praising and lifting up of worship and song to God our Father for His Son Yeshua / Jesus our Messiah. This pleasure begins with a reading from scripture....

But I had pity for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went.
Therefore say to the house of Israel, So says the Lord Jehovah: I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name's sake, which you have profaned among the nations where you went.
And I will sanctify My great name, which was profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst. And the nations shall know that I am Jehovah, says the Lord Jehovah, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all lands, and will gather you into your own land.
And I will sprinkle clean waters on you, and you shall be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from your idols.
And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments and do them.
And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. And you shall be My people, and I will be your God.
(Ez 36:21-28)

This scripture reveals God's plan. He will take his people "Israel" from the lands where they were scattered - to the North and the West and to the Isles of the Seas, and he will bring them back to their birthright land which He gave them as an eternal inheritence!

His people Israel in this reading is the House of Ephraim - the "Northern" tribes. Those people who went into the world and mixed with the Gentiles to become His witnesses and keeper of His faith as His Church. This people is not the Jews or the "House of David" but those people who He once called "not my people" the scattered House of Joseph.

A great and glorious day is coming and now is when He will call them using using fishers and hunters. Remember Jesus when he chose the disciples saying "come, I will make you fishers of men? This fulfilled the vision in Jeremiah 16:16. And soon the prophecy of the two sticks will emerge - One stick "Epraim" will be joined to another stick "Judah" and will be one stick in the Master's loving hand. Jew and Gentile in harmony serving one Savior the "Son of David" as true and eternal God and Messiah -"Yeshua/Jesus of Nazareth."

Here it is.........

Say to them, So says the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions, and I will put them with him, with the stick of Judah, and will make them one stick, and they shall be one in My hand.
And the sticks on which you write shall be in your hand before their eyes.
And say to them, So says the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and will gather them on every side, and will bring them into their own land.
And I will make them one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel, and one King shall be king to them all. And they shall not still be two nations, nor shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.
Nor shall they be defiled with their idols, even with their filthy idols, nor with all of their transgressions. But I will save them out of all their dwelling places, in them where they sinned, and will cleanse them. And they shall be to Me for a people, and I will be to them for God.

And David My servant shall be King over them. And there shall be one Shepherd to all of them. And they shall walk in My judgments, and obey My Laws, and do them.
And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, the land in which your fathers have lived. And they shall dwell in it, even they and their sons, and the sons of their sons for ever. And My servant David shall be their ruler forever.
And I will cut a covenant of peace with them. It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them, and multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in their midst forever.
And My tabernacle shall be with them. Yea, I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Ezek:19-27

Belief Item Three.....In support of the great commission “to go into all the world” with the good news of salvation through our belief in the life, death and resurrection of Yeshua Ha Messiach. Those who follow Him are prophets and priests. We are equipped and readied in all things by the work of the promised Holy Spirit which lives in each of us.

First.....We are saved by grace through the life and death of Jesus of Nazareth our Messiah sent by God his Father to atone for sin and bring us to eternal life by our belief in His resurrection victory. Paul summarized it quite well in 1st Corintians Chapter 15. We are now part of His glorious plan. Hallelujah!

Secondly.....Now that you have eternal life and you have met your Lord and Savior Yeshua/Jesus you have been given a task. Share the joy, share the love, share the good news!
Go into the mission field of your life and tell the wonderful story of how Yeshua has set you free from the bondage of sin. As Jesus said: "The fields are white for the harvest" - so do not tarry but be ye saints and scholars. Study to show yourselves approved in the handling of sound doctrine and truth. And go forth!

Thirdly... (is that a word?) ..... He tells us the "Holy Spirit" - the Ruach HaKodesh "will teach you all things." You do not need a degree in theology to save souls. Being obedient to the urging of the Holy Spirit will bare fruit as you tell your story. Remember that the Holy Spirit - the third member of the very Godhead of eternity lives within each of us who are saved by the blood of the Lamb and are baptised into His family. We have become saints - look at this; wearing garments washed white in the blood of the Lamb. (Rev 7:14).... HOW COOL IS THAT?

Belief Item Two......The church in its teachings should reflect the beliefs and character of Jesus/Yeshua in the context of his humanity as a Jew. He arrived here on earth in a miraculous way being born into the ancestral family of King David, son of Jacob to present his teachings, prove His authority and to birth and guide His church.

His earthly life and ministry were prophetic and included proof of who He was in wisdom, authority and miracles. Ultimately His sacrificial death on a cross defeated Satan and bought eternal salvation for all who would trust in Him. He was/is the long awaited Messiah of the Jews. The "Christian" church has adopted Him as Lord and Savior but for a variety of reasons has rejected proper and correct teachings which can only be understood through Jewish eyes and traditions.

As stated earlier, this blog ministry is ....."In support of and dissemination of teachings regarding the Hebraic roots of the “Christian” faith."

We cannot understand who we are until we understand who He was. His roots, His traditions, His teachings filtered through Jewish eyes are part of our heritage. Understanding His ancestry explains our “heart call” to Him as our Shepherd."

Hang around for awhile and you will see a miracle unfold in your own understanding. If you are "well read" in things of the bible you will discover that this miracle has been "hidden in plain view" awaiting a time such as this. I hope you will be inspired to teach other brothers and sisters as you learn.

Belief item One..... The Bible is the unique history of an eternal creator God speaking to a people He “called out” to be His own from all the peoples He had put on the earth. He came into their lives to have communion with them; to be their God; to lead them, guide them, fellowship with and love them. He promised them a “messiah,” an earthly king born of heavenly blood. Hebrew prophets over hundreds of years told about him and his coming. We (among millions) believe Yeshua (who Christians call Jesus) is He. The New Testament is word and documentation of Jewish witnesses detailing the life of Yeshua – their Messiah.

Not quite in the beginning...

Established August 2006 at Brainerd, MN by brother Wes Miller.

In support of... the study and correct interpretation of all scripture through the revelation of Jesus as “Yeshua” the Messiah of all Israel. We as Gentile believers are followers of this Messiah of Israel. He came as the “promised” one. Our Savior; born “the Lion of the tribe of Judah.”
